More Pictures from my Trip to Africa
Did you miss me?
Hey Folks! Sorry about the absence of posts by me, but I have been away visiting family in Africa. Some much needed R&R if you ask me. Here is a picture of me being lazy... I was acctually watching my cousins wrestle at the time. It was great to see the relatives, but I missed my friends here at Landon ,and it is great to be home. With that said there are tons of fantastic things I have heard about while I was away. Girls volleyball has started their season and so far are doing well. I think I might have to poke my wiskers through my peep hole and catch a game soon. I also hear that we have selected our boys and girls soccer teams and the boys and girls baseketball teams. I am really looking forward to seeing that.
I was also told that we are starting a chess club. Apparently they are going to meet on Thursday's with their first meeting coming after Thanksgiving on December 3rd.
Well now that I am back in town keep checking my blog for more updates... Recruitment season is right around the corner, and I will have plenty to share!!!

Here Comes Fall...
As I write this weeks blog and like to look back at the first few weeks of the school I realize that this school year is going to be fun and exciting... Our 7th graders are fully involved in their National Guard Leadership Lessons, and some real team building is going on. I have even noticed Ms. England and Mr. MacDowell getting in on the fun.
Yesterday I saw our students doing their very best during the district Benchmark testing, and I am sure those scores are going to be outstanding... Just like those Progress Reports that are going home today Tuesday September 22nd, 2009. (Sorry guys, I have to remind mom and dad that they are going home.)
Just in case you did not know where to go and see what else is going on at Julia Landon here is a link to the school's calendar page http://www.duvalschools.org/landon/calendars.htm.
Well that is all for now. I'll see you around.

Back to School, Benchmarks, and Football!!!

Sorry my blog is a day late this week, but I did not want to blog until I had gotten to see our first football game. Although the scoreboard had Julia Landon with the lower score our team played their hearts out, and did everyone in the school proud~!
Did you see Mr. Manias, Mr. Beckstrom, and Ms. Fenton getting a pie in the face at half time? I did!!! (If you didn't I had my camera man take a picture for you to share)
Also, thank you for all the fans that came to the game too. The was the largest crowd I have seen since 1957 when Landon played Jackson. Hope to see you at our next home game... There may be more half time surprises in store for that game too...
This is the time when Dr. C-D asks me to remind you guys of some important upcoming events!
September 15th - Back to School Night @ 6 p.m.
September 21st - Benchmark Testing grades 6-8
September 23rd -Early Release @ 12:50 p.m.

This rain is horrible on my coat
Geez... All this rain has done absolutly nothing for my mane. It has been frizzy all week, but that is enough about me. Let's talk about my school.
What a great time is has been with the opening of schools. I am sooooo happy to have the children walking around my school again. I did miss them over the summer.
I was down in the SE wing of my "dungeon" watching the kids go into lunch the other day, and was really pleased to see them acting like little adults. Great job kids.
I can not forget to tell you how excited I am for next Thursday's game (9/10/09 @ 5 p.m.). I always get hyped up for the first game of the year. The football team got their pads this week, and I did get a glimpse of the cheerleader tryouts. We are gonna have a good group this year to cheer our team on.
Oh yeah, Dr. C-D wanted me to remind everyone that we have an early release on September 9th and that Open House is on September 15th. I'll see you all then.

Welcome Back
Many of you have seen pictures of me around school like the ones in the main entrance, but Dr. C-D asked me if I would start sharing my opinion in a blog on what I see going on in my school. After all... I am the mascot. Now I don't make it out in the building very much during the day, but I do have little spots that I have made around the school that allow me to see what's going on.
For example, the 8th graders did a really good job coming into the cafeteria on Wednesday August 26th. That is an example for the 6th and 7th graders to follow. I also saw coach Harris out on the rain soaked football field starting to work with this years team. Lookin good boys and girl... lookin good... I can't wait for the first game. (Although Dr. C-D won't let me go... she said I have to stay my the "dungeon" under the school."
Well my paws are a little tired from typing. I am new to this blogging thing, and I think I need to get my nails trimmed before I blog next week.
I'll be seein ya...
